Some scenes just stay with you. This was one for Joel. He wanted to paint the second right before grief turns into a decision, not the story around it, just that raw stillness. Alice stands at the edge, built out of loose, almost unsteady brushwork, like even the paint couldn't hold still. There's no comfort in this one, no resolution. Just the weight of loss and the moment right before someone chooses what to do with it. That's what pulled him in, painting grief honestly, without softening it. Painted by Joel Thornton in 2024.
