Coming through - Framed canvas

Elephants are Julia's favorite animal, and this one grew out of that same instinct that started with the giraffes, Joel's pull toward painting the animals that matter to the people around him. Coming Through comes at you head-on, trunk extended, painted in a burst of gold, purple and burnt orange. The oil is thick and fearless, built up in layers that give the skin real weight. Painted by Joel Thornton in 2012.
