Music runs deep in this family. Joel and Julia have gone to a ton of concerts throughout their relationship, and still catch local artists downtown whenever they can. The windshield idea for this one goes back to something Mason said years ago, he thought it would be fascinating to get Dad's POV driving, and Joel's been carrying that forward into scenic paintings ever since. This one puts you right in the driver's seat, rain speckled glass, hands on the wheel, music icons walking right by you in warm gold oil. The crosswalk is instantly recognizable, but through that windshield it feels personal, like you're the one about to roll through the intersection. Painted by Joel Thornton in 2024.
