Indigo - Framed canvas

Indigo started as something personal before it was ever a painting. Ava Gardner was Julia's favorite actress growing up, the kind of favorite that sticks, and it's part of why their daughter carries her name too. Joel painted her with blue curls and blue eyes, cool and composed. The oil turns moody around her, with a deep shadow cutting across the face and the background staying grey. It's not really about the icon. It's about the same quality that made her a favorite in this house long before this painting ever existed. Painted by Joel Thornton in 2022.
