Standing Tall - Framed canvas

Giraffes keep showing up in Joel's work. Standing Tall is part of that. Something about the scale keeps pulling him back. This one started from photo reference. It's about weight. The coat is thick patches of amber, rust, and teal, pressed on hard in places, barely there in others, so the texture reads like real hide. Behind it, the savannah fades soft and gold, the treeline shrinking next to something that big. Joel's been carrying that same instinct into other animals since the giraffes started it. This might be the clearest version yet. It just stands there, enormous and unbothered. Painted by Joel Thornton in 2024.
